RedEdge emerged from the cutting-edge research ecosystem of the Remote Sensing Lab (RSLab) at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), a leader in geospatial analytics and AI-driven Earth Observation (EO) innovation. Our core team combines expertise in remote sensing, computer vision, deep learning and geospatial engineering and focuses on developing EO AI-based solutions for real-world applications.

Co-founder – Innovation Manager & Business Development
Andreas El Saer co-founded RedEdge to drive the translation of cutting-edge research into scalable Earth Observation (EO) solutions. A PhD candidate in Computer Vision & Deep Learning at the University of West Attica, he specializes in AI, 3D geospatial analytics and multimodal data fusion, with hands-on expertise in a variety of national & EU-funded projects. With over a decade of experience managing R&D projects across industries and research centers, Andreas excels at steering complex initiatives—from smart agriculture and digital twins to federated learning systems. His expertise spans the full lifecycle of innovation, from securing and leading national/EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe) to delivering user-centric solutions that prioritize open-source collaboration and technical rigor. At RedEdge, Andreas oversees R&D strategy and operational execution, ensuring seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies like satellite-edge AI workflows and geospatial digital twins.
Athena Psalta
Co-founder - CEO
Athena Psalta co-founded RedEdge to build an intuitive platform that democratizes access to advanced geospatial analytics, turning complex AI workflows into actionable tools for various industries. A PhD candidate at NTUA RSLab, she specializes in AI, computer vision, EO and geospatial analytics, with hands-on experience in many EU-funded & national projects. Her work focuses on bridging academic research with real-world applications, developing scalable AI models for traffic monitoring, urban planning, and environmental insights. As CEO, she drives RedEdge’s strategic vision, fostering partnerships and aligning cutting-edge research with market needs to deliver intuitive, scalable AI solutions for global industries. At RedEdge, she leads efforts to convert raw satellite, drone, edge and sensor data into tools that help industries with impactful solutions that turn complex geospatial analytics into actionable steps for a sustainable future.
Vasileios Tsironis
Co-founder - Technical Director
Vasileios Tsironis co-founded RedEdge to bridge cutting-edge AI research with scalable geospatial solutions. A PhD candidate in Deep Learning for Earth Observation (EO) at NTUA RSLab, he specializes in computer vision, multimodal data fusion, and geospatial analytics, with extensive experience leading national & EU-funded projects. As CTO, he leads RedEdge’s technical strategy, architecting scalable AI infrastructure and ensuring seamless integration of cutting-edge research into user-centric geospatial platforms. His work focuses on transforming raw satellite, drone, and IoT sensor data into robust AI pipelines for sectors such as urban planning, environmental monitoring and transportation optimization. At RedEdge, he leads the development of open-source frameworks and production-ready AI models that empower industries to harness EO insights at scale.

Varvara Tsironi
Geological Risk Advisor
Dr. Varvara Tsironi holds a PhD in Active Tectonics & Seismology, specializing in fault system analysis, earthquake hazard assessment and geospatial applications for geological risk mitigation. Her research focuses on integrating satellite data and field surveys to map seismic hazards and assess tectonic activity. As a geological advisor, Varvara enhances RedEdge’s EO solutions by bridging geospatial analytics with seismic and tectonic insights. Her expertise supports validating AI-driven models actively developed by RedEdge for landslide and ground deformation monitoring using satellite/InSAR data, while also advising on fault zone mapping and infrastructure risk assessments for urban resilience projects.
Aristomenis Kopsacheilis
Transportation Analytics Advisor
Aristomenis specializes in traffic safety, AI-driven transportation optimization and traffic flow modeling as a PhD candidate at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). As a transportation solutions partner, Aristomenis enhances RedEdge’s geospatial AI insights by validating AI models for traffic prediction, refining vehicle/pedestrian interaction analysis and advising on multimodal data fusion for urban mobility insights. His fieldwork in traffic simulation and sensor networks ensures RedEdge’s solutions align with real-world transportation challenges.
Athanasios Antonopoulos
Agricultural Advisor
Athanasios specializes in precision agriculture and beekeeping vegetation mapping as a PhD candidate in Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). His research focuses on hyperspectral remote sensing, UAV-based vegetation analysis and machine learning applications for precision agriculture, soil health assessment and yield prediction models. As an agricultural advisor, Athanasios enhances RedEdge’s EO analytics by validating AI models for crop classification, optimizing soil nutrient mapping and integrating satellite-edge data with ground-truth farming insights with fieldwork with UAVs and IoT sensors.
Anastasios Megaritis
FinTech Advisor
Dr. Anastasios Megaritis is a Lecturer in Finance at Hull University Business School, specializing in empirical finance, AI credit risk modeling, and macroeconomic forecasting. With a PhD in Finance (Essex Business School) and industry experience as a Credit Risk Data Scientist at Optasia, a global fintech leader in microlending, he bridges quantitative finance with geospatial AI to redefine risk assessment in climate-exposed markets. As a Finance Advisor, Anastasios develops and validates RedEdge’s EO-driven financial models, ensuring they meet industry standards for accuracy, scalability and regulatory compliance. His work with RedEdge actively focuses on developing AI algorithms to link EO data with financial risk metrics such as insurance claims and commodity forecasting for various markets.
