The origins of RedEdge
Our team has spent years delivering Earth Observation projects on satellite, drone and in-situ data, across a range of applications. The same problems came up every time. Every data provider had to be handled differently. Every prototype had to be rebuilt to run at scale. Every result needed a new way to reach the people who asked for it. The analysis was rarely the hard part.
In 2025 we founded RedEdge, a spinoff of the Remote Sensing Laboratory at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Everything that had to be rebuilt for each project is now the platform we build for everyone.
Our vision
Most of what is built in Earth Observation stops before it becomes a product. Methods get published, models get released, prototypes get demonstrated, and most of it stops there. What is missing is the engineering that turns it production-ready and an interface anyone can work with.
Our aim is to close that gap, and to make the path across it short. Wherever a method comes from, whether a research group, a company or an open-source project, going from something that works to something in service should take days, not another project. Achieving that requires as much attention to how the platform is used as to how it performs. Over time we expect that to change how Earth Observation applications are built, whatever the domain they serve.
